For mock-ups and prototypes: recipients orbit and zoom on the page. The display is preview-only (not for editing) and may simplify geometry compared to the source; use the downloaded file for CAD-grade work.
Why avoid “raw file only”
Receiving a 3D file without a viewer forces a download and a hunt for software. A FileVert link lets people explore: rotate and zoom right in the browser. The browser view may show simplified geometry (lighter mesh): it’s for preview only, not editing, and may differ from the source file.
- 01
Prepare the file
Export to GLB, GLTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, or PLY. Large files may hit preview limits; download remains available. The preview may reduce mesh complexity for display in the browser.
- 02
Start the transfer
Drop the file on the send page. No sign-up for a standard free send.
- 03
Check that Explore mode is on
Without Explore mode, the recipient only gets a download. Keep it on for web exploration.
- 04
Share the link
The recipient manipulates the 3D view on the page; they download the file only to import elsewhere.
What the recipient sees — explore a shared 3D model
Interactive view: rotate and zoom in the browser. The preview may show a simplified version of the model — viewing only, not editing; it isn’t a full CAD view. Use the downloaded file for precise work.
Typical situations
Architect
Send a volumetric study: the client rotates it on screen.
Product designer
Share a digital prototype for shape approval before manufacturing.
Game designer
Send an asset for feel without a heavy toolchain.
What Explore mode brings here
- Direct exploration in the browser: rotate and zoom.
- Preview only: the web viewer may simplify the geometry; it is not an editing tool.
- Common formats: GLB, GLTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, PLY.
- Free viewing without sign-up for the recipient; your link is ephemeral.
- Download stays available to import into another tool.
